Block Letter Official - IHL Crossed Sticks Reverse

(1959 - 1965)

In the 1950's, the IHL was an amateur Senior league. Despite its relatively low status, it was one of the first leagues to adopt team crested pucks. The first series of pucks issued were on the CCM slugs with the large block letter 'OFFICIAL' marked on the side with both sides screened in orange. These are similar to pucks issued for the WHL of that era. Unlike the WHL not all teams appear to have had pucks. However, the series does include a very rare Denver Mavericks (Team lasted a part season before moving on to Minneapolis) and perhaps the first ever game puck to feature local advertising on the back, the Chatham Maroons. (To see the advertisement on the back of the Chatham puck, hold the cursor over the image until the reverse appears.)
