CCM PRACTICE PUCKS
(1970 - 1973)
Prior to 1970, NHL practice pucks were Art Ross pucks with simple logos similar to the reverse of their game pucks. In 1970, a series of practice pucks were issued for NHL teams with screening all done in orange, which was typical of CCM pucks going back to the 1950's. It is likely that some of these pucks did see some game use as well. Most pucks featured the NHL shield on the back but pucks can be found with local advertising on the reverse as well as a Montreal Canadiens puck that has the same team logo on both sides. This puck was also a game puck for the Montreal Junior Canadiens and the same design had been used on earlier CCM slugs for the Hull-Ottawa Canadiens of the EPHL. Also, at the bottom are a few CCM pucks that had ads on the back.
