Viceroy Non-Approved
(1985 - 1988)
Although the NHL adopted the General Tire slug as their official game puck in 1985, this decision was not fully accepted by all NHL teams. In Glas Co initially continued to screen pucks on Viceory slugs but dropped the 'Approved' notation at the top of the reverse. Soon after, they stopped using Viceroy slugs and started to use their own In Glas Co slug. These are often referred to as 'Transitional Non-Approved' pucks are are harder to find than the ones issued later. These 'Non-Approved' pucks were used side by side with the official Trench/General Tire pucks of the same era.
